YouTube Theater Capacity Breakdown

The 6,000 seats at YouTube Theater span three levels. The compact design keeps the farthest balcony row within roughly 200 feet of the stage, which is closer than most full arenas at any level.

Why Is YouTube Theater Only 6,000 Seats?

The 6,000-seat limit was a deliberate design decision by Populous and Hollywood Park developer Stan Kroenke. The Hollywood Park campus already had SoFi Stadium at 70,240 seats and the Kia Forum at 17,500 seats nearby. Adding another large arena would have cannibalized those bookings. YouTube Theater fills the gap for acts that want something more intimate than an arena without losing arena-level production capability.

At 6,000 seats, YouTube Theater targets a specific tier of touring artists. Comedy specials, podcast tapings, and award shows all work better in a room where the audience feels close and the sightlines from every section are clear. At the Kia Forum, a comedian in section 234 is watching someone perform 200 feet away. At YouTube Theater, that same act is maybe 150 feet away and the view is unobstructed.

The YouTube naming rights deal, announced alongside the venue's opening in July 2021, positioned the space as a premium brand venue for Google and YouTube content partnerships in addition to its public event schedule. The capacity keeps the venue versatile — it can scale down further for corporate events and brand activations that would be dwarfed by the larger arenas on campus.

YouTube Theater Capacity - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the YouTube Theater capacity?+
YouTube Theater has a capacity of approximately 6,000 seats. That number varies slightly by event configuration. For general admission floor concerts where the orchestra is opened as a standing pit, total occupancy approaches the full 6,000. For reserved-row floor shows, capacity is similar but the density is lower. The three main levels are the orchestra (floor), mezzanine, and balcony.
How many seats does YouTube Theater have?+
YouTube Theater has approximately 6,000 seats across three levels. The orchestra level (floor) holds roughly 1,500 in reserved-row configuration or more as standing GA. The mezzanine level holds approximately 1,800 seats. The balcony holds approximately 2,700 seats across rows 1-15. The compact design keeps every seat within roughly 200 feet of the stage.
How does YouTube Theater compare to other Los Angeles venues?+
At 6,000 seats, YouTube Theater sits between club venues and full arenas. The Greek Theatre in Griffith Park holds 5,900 - essentially the same size. The Shrine Auditorium holds 6,300 for concerts. The Kia Forum holds 17,500, nearly three times larger. SoFi Stadium holds 70,240, more than eleven times larger. YouTube Theater's size is deliberate - it captures touring acts that want something more intimate than an arena without giving up the production scale of a major venue.
What is the YouTube Theater capacity for standing GA shows?+
For standing general admission floor concerts, YouTube Theater can approach its full 6,000 capacity. When the orchestra floor is opened as GA standing, several thousand fans fill the floor space. For reserved floor row shows, the capacity is similar but the floor feels more organized. Check your specific event listing to confirm whether floor tickets are GA standing or assigned rows - both configurations exist at this venue.
How big is YouTube Theater overall?+
YouTube Theater is a purpose-built performance venue with a footprint of approximately 160,000 square feet. It sits within the Hollywood Park campus at 1011 S Stadium Dr, Inglewood, California, adjacent to SoFi Stadium. The venue was constructed between 2018 and 2021 as part of the larger Hollywood Park development and opened in July 2021. The design by Populous prioritized sightlines and acoustics over maximum capacity.
Is YouTube Theater bigger than the Kia Forum?+
No. The Kia Forum holds approximately 17,500 and is nearly three times the capacity of YouTube Theater. The two venues serve different markets: touring artists who want a full arena experience book the Kia Forum, while acts that want a tighter, more intimate 6,000-seat room book YouTube Theater. Both venues sit within a few miles of each other in Inglewood, and both host concerts, comedy shows, and special events.
Where is YouTube Theater located?+
YouTube Theater is located at 1011 S Stadium Dr, Inglewood, California 90301. It sits on the Hollywood Park campus, adjacent to SoFi Stadium and a short walk from Intuit Dome. The venue is approximately 3 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The Metro K Line's Westchester/Veterans station is a roughly 10-minute walk from the main entrance.
Who owns YouTube Theater?+
YouTube Theater is owned by Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, the company controlled by SoFi Stadium developer Stan Kroenke. As part of the broader Hollywood Park campus development, YouTube Theater was built and is operated by the same ownership group that developed SoFi Stadium and the surrounding retail and residential development. It is not owned or operated by Google or YouTube — those companies hold only the naming rights.
What is the YouTube Theater naming rights deal?+
Google's YouTube signed the naming rights deal for the venue in August 2021, coinciding with its opening month. Financial terms were not publicly disclosed. The deal positions the venue as a branded Google/YouTube activation space in addition to its public event schedule. The naming rights arrangement is indefinite in published reports — no end date has been publicly confirmed. YouTube Theater joins a growing list of venues branded by technology companies, following the Chase Center (JPMorgan Chase) and Intuit Dome (Intuit/TurboTax) pattern.
Is YouTube Theater indoors?+
Yes. YouTube Theater is a fully enclosed indoor venue with a fixed roof and climate control. Unlike the open-sided SoFi Stadium (which has a fixed ETFE canopy but open sides), YouTube Theater is a fully climate-controlled room. The indoor design contributes significantly to the venue's acoustic properties — the controlled environment allows productions to optimize sound without competing with outdoor variables.
Is YouTube Theater a good venue?+
YouTube Theater is widely regarded as one of the better mid-size venues in the Los Angeles market. The Populous-designed space prioritizes sightlines and acoustics over maximum capacity. Critics and fans consistently note that the farthest balcony rows still feel close to the stage in a way that larger arenas cannot replicate at 6,000 seats. For comedy specials, podcast tapings, and intimate concerts, the venue is among the top options in Southern California.
What types of events does YouTube Theater host?+
YouTube Theater hosts concerts, comedy shows, podcast tapings, award ceremonies, corporate events, and brand activations. The venue is particularly suited to events that require strong sightlines, professional audio systems, and an intimate setting that still accommodates 6,000 attendees. Recurring events include comedy specials filmed for streaming platforms, the BET Experience at YouTube Theater, and touring acts in the 5,000-7,000 seat range that do not fill the Kia Forum or Intuit Dome.
Does YouTube Theater have assigned seating?+
Yes. YouTube Theater uses assigned reserved seating for most events across the orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony levels. The orchestra floor level can be configured as either reserved rows or general admission standing depending on the event. The upper levels (mezzanine and balcony) are always assigned reserved seating. Check your specific event listing to confirm whether floor tickets are GA standing or assigned rows, as this varies by show.
What major events has YouTube Theater hosted?+
YouTube Theater has hosted the BET Awards, Grammy pre-ceremony events, comedy specials filmed for Netflix and other streaming platforms, major podcast tapings, and headline concerts from touring acts. Since opening in July 2021, the venue has established itself as the premium intimate venue choice for Los Angeles productions that need broadcast-quality production infrastructure in a 6,000-seat room. The Hollywood Park campus location allows it to share parking and transit resources with SoFi Stadium for large-scale event weekends.
